IG ORDERS SECURITY AUDIT OF BOARDING SCHOOLS

With the recent threats by the Boko Haram sects, to attack two boarding schools in Makurdi, Benue State, The Inspector- General of Police,Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered a security audit of all boarding schools in the nation.

The IG has Commanded Commissioners of Police to start the audit as to secure and protect students.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer,Mr. Frank Mba, in Abuja yesterday, said that the outcome of the mission would greatly assist the police and other security agencies in the mission ofcreating security strategies that could promote safety and security in the schools.
The IG ofpolice stated that the result of the consultations, and the attendant security awareness campaigns would assist in reducing the vulnerability of the schools and encourage an otherwise soft terror target.
The Commissioners of Police are expected to comply with other security agencies, the Ministry of Education of the various states, the management and staff of the schools, the Parents Teachers Association, the host communities and others, to achieve their goals.”
Mr.Mohammed Abubakar re-assured the citizens that the Force along with other security forces remained committed in securing the lives and property of all Nigerian, and also plead for the support of the civilians to help in anyway that they can.
